Summer 2022

We arrived at the boat yard on August the first after leaving Arizona with 115 degrees temp.
This is the year we were finally going to take our trip home to Alaska. We just have a few things to do then we're heading north.
This was my hopeful statement from last fall. The moron we have in the white house has raised the fuel prices so high we cannot afford to fill'er up with 130 gallons of fuel and head north.
Plus Canada has made a law that in order to travel through Canada you have to be jabbed. So I guess our trip to Alaska, a free state, we'll have to venture out into the great Pacific ocean and avoid Canada all together.
This will mean I'll have to use the fuel money to build a set of masts and sails.
So for this summer we are working on getting her ship shape for the trip.

August up on the "Ways" in the AMG boatyard.
Work to be done this season. Those marked with *** will be put off to next season.
  1. *** Rope work on poop deck handrail stanchions.

  2. *** Cover the main support post in the galley with fancy rope work.

  3. Re-caulk window sills.
Last year I re-caulked them all with Big Stretch. But being it is a water base caulk and the weather was super damp, it got washed out.

  4. *** Mount Hypo valve in head so the urine drains into the grey water tank

  5. *** Aft Helm. Install new engine control cables throughout the ship.
Just before coming north I searched the web for a switching unit to choose between the aft and forward helm engine controls. Would you believe I found the last one in the world on eBay and it is being shipped from Latvia!

  6. Pilot House Helm
Install all new switch labels made with my new Laser Engraver !

  7. *** Add a switch on the control panel for the compost toilet fan.

  8. Grey Water Level Sensor
This sensor fits inside the gray water tank and sends a signal to the computer via the float switches indicating whether it is full or empty, activating or deactivating the discharge pump. When I designed the first gray water sensor, I left the bottom open because I had no room at the bottom of the tank. The water and scum corroded the wires so it would no longer function.

  9. Wood Repair
I made another mistake a few years ago by using the shit called Bristal Finish on all our wood work. It has all delaminated all over the ship. We are going back to good ol' Cetol. But now it's $60.00 a quart... FJB
So we are going to sand and refinish everything with Cetol. (Yes I know... Back to Cetol for a full circle)

  10. Rudder Indicator
The indictor at the helm is already installed and wired. I need to build mounts for the rudder position sensor and mount the indicator on binnacle for the aft helm.

  11. Stanchions
The stanchions turned out to be way to high to work the fender and dinghy lines.

  12. Power Monitor

Install a power usage/amp meter in the 12 VDC system to track our battery energy use.

  13. Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous things that go wrong while you are working on the other stuff.
