29/31-Aug-21 (Work in Progress)

From Holmes Harbor to Coupville, Penn Cove
Gnettie did a great job of getting the ship off the buoy, as I untied the lines. Though we are grateful to Nichol's brothers to allow us to tie up to it were we glad to bid farewell. As first time mariners it could be our inexperience and in the future it may be totally different as we gather more knowledge of marine life.
We made it to Penn Cove without incident in about 4.5 hours. We were still going slow to keep the stuffing box cool. Gnettie was looking at the area where we were to make a left turn into the cove, and I was arguing with her that we needed to go past a spit first. Well she was right it wasn't a spit on the chart it was low water with a green buoy we had to go around. Looking outside is a lot better then relying soley on a chart.

First picture of her in the water.
Gnettie waving me off in the dinghy. Sitting nicely on the planned waterline.

While Gnettie was in town, to my surprise I got a visit from a beautiful lady, who came to check out her sister in spirit the "Sharon Rose".

The first time anchoring. Using all chain is sure different. Used a 5/8 line as a snubber to take the forces off the anchor windlass. The fun part will be trying to lift it out of the water ! Second time using the dinghy to take Gnettie to shore today. Took a while to get all the lines organized so it looks like this. We come up to the ship and simply clip the lines to the dinghy.

View to the east over the pilot house. Looking towards the Coupeville pier.
