Windshield - 2025

When we came back this year we had water stains in the shower again, and in the galley. How could it be leaking around the windshield when I completely rebuilt it in 2023.

The other day it started to rain and it rained in on Gnettie in the galley. On close inspection I saw that the Rustoleum liquid rubber had a small slit in it, I opened it up and the wood behind was wet.	I then removed all of it under the entire windshield and found a lot of bad spots. Here's a view of a few of them filled with epoxy putty. All this damage in just 2 seasons in the wet hole. I am going to fair it all out, cover it over with clear liquid epoxy, scuff it up then coat it all in 2 coats of brushed on Flex-Seal liquid.


Here it is all done with 2 coats of Flex-Seal. I allowed the Flex-Seal to run in under the canvas along the edge to secure it to the deck.	It rained again, and it leaked again. Made me mad, so I decided to remove the inside starboard windshield sill to see what's going on. More rot under, but I found the leak !


This is the out board sill. I cleaned out all the holes, then filled them with epoxy.	I epoxied all around both windows and coated them with 2 coats of flex-seal. I don't think water can get through all that. Time will tell.


I removed the port windshield sills and they are perfect underneath. The only problem is the outer layer of these 2 lexan windows deteriorated. The hard outer layer deteriorated.	Lexan windows removed for replacement with Bronze laminated glass. Using Lexan was a bad idea.


Starboard side frames installed and caulked.
