The side pieces I built a few years ago were too thick and were made from and old church pew. They cracked because they couldn't bend to the curve of the hull. So it was time to rethink the project.
I bought a CNC machine this spring and decided to put it to good use. For each side I want to have the exact correct curve in the computer so it will fit the hull and the sides properly. Once the sides are complete I can use the same curve to make the cap rail.
All this with the amazing cnc machine.
Here is the CNC machine cutting out MDF board prototypes for the correct curves for port and starboard side pieces.
