Outside Work - 2020

Lots of outside work this year. After about 17 years the hull needs to be repainted.
This is where we need to fill it in with fancy wood work. This is what the Bruce Roberts drawing looks like for this area. Not very clear. First I'll make a template to see what it might look like.

This is the shape I decided on using. It has to match with the bottom of the cap rail and the aft cabin trim board. The little notch at the front of the template is where we came up short on the cap rail. I'll have to glue in a new piece. Starboard side missen chain plates, new gold coating.

Starboard main mast chain plates. The prep work takes more time then the actual painting. Starboard side shroud chain plates complete.

Port side shroud chain plates before painting. Port side shroud chain plates complete.

Port side missen chain plates before painting. When prepping the powder coating all flaked off. Now I have to spent hours getting all the old shit completely off. Powder coating... Phooey !!! Prep work. Sanding scraping and then masking. As you can see working till dark !

Port side missen chain plates complete.

Basic hull sanding done. Having fun filling in all the pin holes. Where the hell to they all come from ?? Gnettie spent 3 days masking off all the stuff we don't want to paint.

Gnettie and I starting to paint ! Yours truly paintin' her.

All done in her new color ! We had some time in Anacortes and got the netting work all done. We used tie-wraps to set it all up, so in my spare time while out at anchor I use proper marine twine lashings.
