Engine - 2016

Before heading out we need to get the engine ready to go.
Which means new hoses, new hydraulic lines, flush coolant, change oil and filters, connect engine cooling system to hot water tank for heating the water.
Also need bracket and tab for LJ12A3-4-Z/BY RPM sensor to interface with Arduino.
This is the tab bracket I made out of a galvanized steel shim and covered it with an aluminium angle to give it some stiffness.. The tab spins with the engine and each time it passes the sensor it sends out a pulse which is counted by the Arduino. The RPM is then displayed on the pilot's station LED monitor This is the aluminum bracket to hold the LJ12A3-4-Z/BY sensor. As you can see in the previous photo it is mounted to the engine block.

Here is a close up of the clearance, set to 2mm. All new hydraulic lines and hoses.

Here is the hookup for the engine cooling system to heat up the hot water tank. Has two ball valves for water shut off. One engine fitting was UNF thread (parallel) so I had to make one out of a flare union. Flare fittings are UNF. Black hoses are from the engine to heat our hot water.

Here is the fuel system. I know it looks like a littel overkill but I had the filters. First set on the right are the 30 micron filters, the next set to the left are the 10 micron filters, then down to the one below a 5 micron filter. The pump in the middle allows me to scrub the fuel from one tank into another and fill the nurse tank for the deisel heater. These valves control which tanks we use fuel from and which tank it goes back too.
