Aft Cabin - 2016

I am finally in the aft section ready to finish it.
As usual there is just a bunch of air that I need to fill in with beds, drawers and shelves.
First I started on the starboard side and installed the rail to define the edge of the bunk. Then the same for the port side.

Now to figure out how the hell to do the section where it all comes together. I need to be able to get at the area around the rudder and hydraulic cylinder, so I need a box and a removable cover. Covered in the back, and then fit in the 2 upper sides.
Then I decided to install 2 electrical outlets one on each side for charging cell phones, etc.

Finished shelf framework and the sides with electrical outlets. Now to build the cover for the box. Here is my mock up. Took longer to make the mock-up then actually cutting the plywood.

Top is in with welting to make it fancier. The I roughed in the front of the rudder box and the sitting area front piece. Then I added 2 steps, one on each side to step up into the bunks.

Fancy stuff done. I decided to put a storage shelf under the settee. Close-up of storage area. Now to add the lid !

You may wonder, what the hell is this? Well the first time I stepped on it with my 250 lbs. the step broke.
So this is my answer. It can now support my full weight with this angle iron under it. Yeah! Remember, any job worth doing is one worth doing twice...
Center berth area finished ! There will be a cushion on the lid and the areas to the left and right are to stand on to get into the bunk.

The beginning of the radio and navigation station. Had to design it so we can still walk into the cabin and get to the washer/dryer. The desk top will be a big triangle with the point cut off. Coming together. Don't you love those angles !

Picture coming
Side pieces done, and the counter top ready to trim. I am figuring a 2" overhang. Then inside underneath will be a shelf for a router, printer, Ham Radio power supply, etc. Now for the shelf underneath.

First closet door in place.
