Washer - Dryer - 2015

One of the things we have been finding the right moment for was to get the heavy Washer - Dryer into the boat. The only solution was to have some one come over with a crane... but that's big bucks.
So as procrastination would pay off we met a fellow boater, Kevin, who is building storage sheds back of the property. After a few beers one day, mixed with tall stories, I mentioned the WD and he suggested that he could come over with his man lift and get her into the ship.. Yeah... So here it is..

Some will ask, "What the heck, this isn't a cruise ship, why a washer and a dryer on a small boat."

Well to answer this question keep in mind that we are headed for South East Alaska as soon as she is launched and the weather there is damp and cold. If you have ever been on a damp boat there is no way to keep anything dry, even if you hang it out it will take a long, long, long time to dry.

But when it is damp and cold, putting on a shirt fresh from the dryer will be like you're in heaven.
He arrives with this cool rig.. WD poised and ready.

  The boss, ready for action.

Oops up she goes, adjusting the lines under the bowline knot... Higher and higher... Can we clear the rail ?

Whoops now she started to spin.... Kevin is way up there as I grab it to bring her in over the rail.

Bring her in some more as it lowers to the deck. Now I drag it over to the hatch opening.

Down the hatch. Here is the platform where it will be installed. It will be bolted to the 1"plywood with 4 3/8" bolts. Once I get it into place then it gets plugged in, connected to the thru hull drain, hooked up to water and connected to the 4" dryer vent which is coming out of the platform.

I put in 2 boards for ramps with a blanket on top and then set her down sideways when it was lowered into the ship. The first load of wash is being done.. YEAH !! Oh, you are wondering about the control on the wall. This is a push button controller that will turn on the fresh water pump.
