Galley - 2008

Here is the beginning of the sink cabinets. Gnettie designed it and I built it. I run into a lot of catch-22's. Before I could do anything I had to run ground wires to the chain plates. Then I frame the cabinets using 2 X 2's. It looks weird but the frame in the back is perfectly level.

Here I am cutting and fitting the back bulkhead for Gnetties pot and pans cabinet. The back edge has to be cut on a bias to fit the back rib. It all goes into this area.

Here it is in place. Now we finished in the area between the stove and the pots and pans cabinet.

When it is all done, Gnettie puts 2 coats of Varathane on everything. Here it is all coated and ready for finish work.

We ended up buying pre-made racks that slide out. I had some drawers kicking around so I re sized them to fit. A drawer is also fitted at the top left. I even had a little one to mount at the bottom left.
Notice how deep the sink is. We had a hard time finding this sink, so here it is mounted into place.
Because of no room for both units to come out of the cabinet, I had to flush mount the one next to the oven. In order for me to do this I had to mount the cabinet front on the steel rack. The cutout in the counter is for access into the pots and pans storage area.
I ended up using wascoting for this cabinet door. Here is the cabinet doors cut and set into place, ready for Varathane.

The range and oven is in place, however we overlooked the fact that the back burners are too far back to allow them to be used. Gnettie needs all the burners she can get, so the range has to be moved forward about 8 inches. I think we will end up with more changes before we are done. Gnettie picked out this faucet set, so I roughed it in to see what it will look like. Next step will be to glue a Formica surface on the counter top.
